Women & family welfare
Standing by a household in the weeks when it cannot stand by itself.
What we do
Most of the families we help need one thing: to get through the next six weeks.
Our memorandum commits the Sanstha to providing facilities and support, according to their need, to women, girls and destitute persons. In practice, that means a dry ration kit for a household that has lost its earning member, nutrition support for an expecting or nursing mother, or the cost of medicines a family has stopped buying because it is choosing between medicine and food.
The families come to us through people who know them — a neighbour, a school teacher, a member of the governing body. Someone from the Sanstha visits before any support is given, and again afterwards. We are small enough that this is possible and honest enough to admit that being small is what makes it possible.
We do not run a shelter, a clinic or a legal aid cell, and we do not claim to. Where a case needs the police, a hospital, a protection officer or a lawyer, our job is to take the family to the right door and stay with them until they are through it.

Winter woollens and a sack of provisions handed over at a Sanstha programme.
What support pays for
Fund one household for one month.
A month’s ration for a family is the single most useful thing a donor can buy from us. Tell us how many households you can cover and we will send you the list of what went where, with the shop’s bill attached.
